First uploaded video to flickr - quality seems very good.
This was Atticus with his new friends the Adams girls in Atlanta, from our visit to Beckie’s old college friends Tom and Melissa. The junior set got along famously.

According to her Pop, Sofie Carlton Moricle debuted at 7 pounds, 8 ounces and 20-inches long, 3:26 AM.

I could watch this over and over - this is a certain (very specific) kind of genius.
I miss the Crime Dog.
An overdue round-up of photos from various of the weekly meetings of the playgroup Atticus and I have been lucky enough to be part of since last winter:

For copies, folks can click through to flickr and sign in w/ a flickr or yahoo ID to order from some Targets (incl. Athens) — or, just contact me. To download, links to the original (hi-res) file are on the individual pictures’ pages.

Happy Birthday to the distaff Phalens!
Always a nice way to get over tax day.
Atticus asking me a riddle this morning:
“Why did the girl throw a stick of butter out the window?”
Me:”Hmm, I don’t know…Why?”
“Because she wanted to see a butter fly!”
(then, after a pause while looking as if he felt the story needed a little something more, and with a serious face:)
“She was a funny-looking sort of girl.”

In which Atticus gets into the rainwater we’ve collected, acts a fool, and gathers an audience from the preschool playground next door.

Last Friday, Atticus shared one of his favorites, “David Goes to School” by David Shannon, with Beckie’s class at the end of the school day. He knows the story pretty well, I think.
His shirt might look odd; it’s because it was Backwards Day at preschool earlier.

From my dad, Lionel’s, or Gramppa’s (Beckie questioned this spelling, but it seemed to me to be what we were saying), visit last weekend - on Sunday, the day we had for play, when none of us were sick :O .
Unfortunately, Atty was sick on Saturday and both Gramppa and I were under the weather on Monday (he left on Tuesday morning). We had fun, nevertheless — Atticus really enjoys having visitors on his home turf now, and quickly progressed into asking when we could wake up Gramppa (since Gramppa and all the rest of the nearby sensible people weren’t up quite as early as he was). A picture set from the visit can be found here.

In which the wedding goers are shown clearly loving rock ‘n’ roll.
And what is more rock than beating compliant audience members about the head and neck with your guitar?
Coming soon: another video, in which several revelers are mighty mighty and lettin’ it all hang out at the reception
…which is what it was here, more than a blizzard — I mean, it was a “blizzard”, but it wasn’t a Blizzard, not for Boston. We didn’t even top 20 inches - c’mon!

As happened with some of the great stuff above, seeing some image that occupies a tiny, remote part of your memory from 30 yrs ago is thrilling but peculiar, too.

The National Championship for ultimate starts Thursday in Sarasota (which apparently is OK after Wilma). My team, Death or Glory, comes in seeded 8th out of 16, our lowest in a long, long time. That said, with all our players playing and healthy, this is our best team in the last couple of years, so the possibility of upsets is pretty good. Personally, I feel as healthy and focused as I have since 2001 or so.
Beckie and Atty are manning the homefront - he’s still a little young to understand why Dad is leaving him to go run around over there, plus he likes to, er, get in on the action himself
Here are some links for following the action:

aka, from September, when our camera w/ videos was still barely alive:
…such as they are
Some of the words Atty has (that at least we can understand):
downstairs (upon waking up) (”d’stairs”)
bears (referring to the bears of various sorts with whom he shares his crib)
banana (used to be”‘nana” and arguably first word - now, somehow, “lala!”)
kitty (”keeee”)
Sarah (”Sssar”, plus a big smile)
Momma, Dada
cheese
mmmmilk
Blue’s Clues (favorite show)(”Boo’s Coos”)
woom woom (for trucks)
Beck, others?
Anyway, a fun moment for Dad the other day when I couldn’t tell if he was ready for his nap or not: he walked over to the stairs that lead up to his room, pointed, and said “ups-bears” — as clear a communication as I could hope for.

Moviefone: ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ Movie Exclusive
Watched the Quicktime version. Covers a lot of ground and looks fantastic: still with an edge akin to PoA, but with an apparent return to the “bigger” production feel of the 1st 2. I suspect we’ll have to wait till the movie to get a glimpse of Voldemort.
