This is a poem from one of my students, Danasha Jones, she calls it Flowitrey…
Flowitrey is the sound of rain on my window pain
It sounds like thunder and rain
I see wonderful kids running around
It makes me want to look out the window and fall to the ground
Money doens’t grow on trees
for people who smoke weed
I see that’s why nobody cares
That’s why you have airs
You’re not here to wear diamonds and pearls
You can wear diamonds and pearls once in a while
But use your brain too once in a while
You can wear foxy clothes and change your hairstyle
But under all is your beautiful smile
When you from nothing and nothing is going good
That tells you to get your life together and get out the hood
They say dogs is a man’s best friend
But he use them to defend
People say they are best friends
But our friendship will last to the end
Sorry to waste your time
But this is the end of my flowitrey rhyme
